There's something of a Scandinavian gothic vibe to this song from Everything is Recorded (aka Richard Russell - the owner of record label XL Recordings) which also features rising star Mary In the Junkyard. Director Ed Morris seems to have breathed in the fabric of this song, and then exhaled a promo that is such a perfect accompaniment that you'd think song and promo were gestated simultaneously in the same womb.

The compelling juxtaposition of pond life and Mary in the Junkyard's trudge across a swampy landscape holding an old fashioned TV is disturbingly jarring. Despite the obvious surreal aspect to this solo cavalcade you have to love the way Morris has catered to the practicalities of the trek by including a power cord which stretches behind the advancing singer... those old-fashioned TVs were in no way 'mobile' in the modern sense.

Like all the best promos, this grainy monochromatic film draws our attention to the song and massively increases the chances that we'll notice it's an absolute cracker.
