Our school friends in the North.
After a stint overseas in deepest, darkest Peru, Dougal Wilson's back in adland. Some directors like to ease themselves back in with a straightforward shoot, but not Wilson. His first UK ad since 'Paddington in Peru' (Australia got three Telstra spots in April, the lucky so-and-sos) is a bravura plug for season two of 'Educating Yorkshire', which must have been as one boy puts it "well hard" to make. That's because it's one of those one-take wonders your old headteacher warned you about (imagine a more light-hearted episode two of 'Adolescence', if it's at all possible). The kids are asked to come up with ideas for the trailer, and they go about this task with great diligence. Music? Check. Choreography? Check. Special effects? Check. Stunts? And how. Even the dinner ladies get in on the action with a musical interlude. By the time viewers are back in class, it seems like the trailer to end all trailers is in the can... only for the knackered pupils to agree "it'll never work". The audience then gets a fright when the teacher looks at the camera screams: "Oy, put that phone away now!" We suspect smartphones have a big role to play in the new series—a lot has changed since 2013, after all.
