Opening a relationship.
OpenAI leans into human interaction in their latest advertising salvo. Miles Jay only gets about twelve seconds of the half-minute runtime to establish the idea of a dinner date early in a relationship before the chatbot takes over, showing on screen exactly how it is helping a young man to use his kitchen skills to demonstrate to his amour that he's keen but not so keen that she'll file a restraining order. In the short time he's given, Jay provides the warmth you'd expect, but the feelgood aspect is offset by the admission that the young man's carefully considered approach is not so much a signal of his empathy as of his ability to prompt the advertised service into providing advice on how best to manipulate the situation. While this demonstrates the cleverness of ChatGPT, it also raises a massive red flag about the ways it is being used.
