A Little Love
Biffy Clyro—Simon Neil, and twin brothers James and Ben Johnston—turn thirty this year, and what better way to celebrate than with some endurance-based performance exercises? Directed by Piers Dennis and choreographed by Steven Hoggett ('The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time', 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'), the promo for 'A Little Love' is physical to say the least. Each movement is meant to prop each other up, to make sure no one falls or slips away. They illustrate an appeal for teamwork ("Can somebody help me?/I can't do this on my own"), a call to arms ("With a little love/If you're honest, we can defeat them all"), and the often mercurial nature of relationships ("I can't divorce you, you put me through hell/What the spirit wants, the spirit gets, oh well"). Suffice to say, we hope they stretched beforehand. At any rate, the result is good for mind, body, and soul, as the Scottish trio celebrate a job well done at the end. Some bands tear each to pieces after thirty years—we like that Biffy Clyro are still happy to lend each other a hand.
