Bed of Lies

Thom Kerr directs a self-assertive music video for Alice Chater that lets the Ramsgate-born singer and dancer show off her moves and then some. Though the lion's share of the action takes place in a nightclub, the film starts on Chater as she leaves Cygnet House, a nod to 'Swan Lake' that encapsulates the promo's appreciation of dance in all its forms.

It can be demure, or it can be dirty—Kerr and choreographer Noel Bajandas, Jr lean hard into the latter as Chater turns the tables on a sleazy nightclub owner. She commands the screen as she does the splits, wraps herself around poles, and takes a seat in the most salacious way possible. Chater never takes her eyes off her target, though ("If you don't do me right/I'll get the knife, you better hide").

So where does she go once her business is done? She could go back to Cygnet House, or she could walk into the local ballet company like the take-no-shit swan she is. Be sure to stick around for the credits.
