For the fans.
Even the most die-hard cynic when it comes to Oasis will likely find the hairs on the back of their standing up in response to this sublime reminder from Adidas that the music event of the summer is the reunion of the band in a series of converts around the world. 1994's 'Live Forever' is the backdrop for a perfectly-judged film from Leigh Powis that is at once backwards and forwards looking. As the exploitative ticket-buying fiasco disappears into the rear-view mirror, fans heading to the concerts can focus on their hopes that the reunion will land them in the midst of their own memories, taking them back to an era when they lived in the moment fuelled by the potential of their future lives. The beautiful weighting of Powis's film is a masterclass. The brand is very present but never threatens to overburden the main event, and the use of the crowd singing along with one of the band's most famous track's just after we've heard the studio version, and a Gallagher talking about the astonishing sensation on stage when you suddenly find yourself glimpsing everything as if from the outside. Simply marvellous.
