"It's all in the boot."

Booty call.
How much difference can your choice of football boots make? A lot, according to this sparkling and funny commercial for the latest version of the Adidas Predator, and the sportswear company has drafted some big guns to say so. Alessia Russo and Jude Bellingham are among a host of football luminaries, but alongside them is a ten year old girl; Paul from Finance (who has a recurring role) and a retiree called Hilda. Each of them is transformed by the advertised boot in a fashion reminiscent of Billy Dane in 'Billy's Boots', a comic strip from the 1960s and beyond. As it's an Adidas ad there's the inevitable David Beckham cameo. How long has he been putting the 'dead' into 'deadpan'? And doesn't his willingness to advertise literally anything give him less value to Adidas? Time to give him the boot, perhaps. Otherwise, this is a considerable bundle of joy with director Tom Emmerson in top form as he marshals many elements into a witty film that is highly persuasive. Advertising at its best.
