A masterclass of pastiche.

Not going to lie... DAVID had to Google this product to make sure it is real after watching this splendidly entertaining commercial from director Priya Ahluwalia. It is real, you'll be glad to know, and this ad is a terrific way to be introduced to it. It takes tremendous skill to hit the sweet spot with this kind of parody, and Ahluwalia and her merry bunch of players have landed this with perfection.

This ad cleverly taps into the public's appetite for hokey drama which was so brilliantly demonstrated by last year's nostalgia-soaked adaptation of Jilly Cooper's 'Rivals' and it could easily be a trailer for a similar piece of programming, albeit one that leans more clearly towards satire.

It looks fantastic too, with particular skill displayed by colorist Juliette Wileman who turns up the dial to amplify the garishness of the acting and the settings.
