Group chats: life's pit crews

J.M. Harper accomplishes another fine piece of short form branded documentary, this time for WhatsApp featuring Lewis Hamilton. The film shows the F1 driver sitting down with a group of teens for an in-person chat that’s filled with vulnerability and emotional intelligence from all sides.

It’s an earnest piece about the power of community and connection for the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and its official partner. And with writing talent from ‘The Bear’ and ‘Beef’ Alex Russell having penned it, it’s no surprise that it has a cool depth to it.

The film’s title comes from a direction often issued to Hamilton during races over the team radio, but its emotion is rooted in the African proverb: if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Something we could probably all benefit from heeding.
