Stars under suspicion.
If Netflix has 'Wake Up Dead: A Knives Out Mystery', then adland has 'Sweet Suspicion: A Waitrose Mystery'. Like Rian Johnson's series of whodunits, the supermarket has reached for the stars and returned with Matthew Macfadyen, Joe Wilkinson, Rahkee Thakrar, Sian Clifford, Dustin Demri-Burns, and Eryl Maynard. The cast are shocked, nay, horrified to learn that the Red Velvet Bauble Dessert has been eaten. With Benoit Blanc out of town, Macfadyen puts down his copy of 'Super Detective: A Sleuth's Handbook' by Agatha Crissie and gets to work. No one is above suspicion hereānot Demri-Burns's frazzled chef, not Clifford's hungry parsnip peeler, nor Maynard's resentful mum demoted to cranberry sauce duty. Even the children and the cat are grilled, but Macfadyen struggles to break them down ("Can you pay attention, please?"). When the game cast sit down for dinner, Macfadyen shouts: "I've solved it!" Because everything has to be a two-parter these days (*cough* 'Wicked' *cough*), we must wait to see who or what scoffed the lot.
