Push

'Push' by Supermodel (Joe Connor and Emile Rafael) may be the first song to namecheck Sober October. We're told, "I might get sober next October/Maybe get myself together if I just push", though we imagine most people want to get through Dry January first at least. Whatever your schedule, the jackhammer beat will keep you on track.

Not content to sit back and nod their heads in the studio, Connor and Rafael also direct the promo: an occult ripper inspired by the golden age of spiritualism. Yet this particular seance is more about ecstasy than ectoplasm, as the cast (led by choreographer Kristína Tukan) channel grief into dance.

Motion blur, phantom hues, and strobe lights are all used to good effect here—does this medium know how to throw a party or what? If this is how Connor and Rafael pull double-duty, we look forward to their next shift.
