With Balance

'With Balance' is a Metronomy song with a difference. Founder Joseph Mount turns producer for Naima Bock and Joshua Idehen, who deliver a heady blend of contemporary folk and spoken-word poetry. When paired with director Lucas Reis's promo, it's a swing and a hit.

After what looks like a difficult phone call, a woman (Angela Bundalovic) sits on a swing, content to go back and forth rather than confront reality beyond the playground. The more she swings, the more expressive her face becomes… but that's not all that changes.

Thanks to some logistical jiggery-pokery, the background alters every time she descends, though, in a lovely touch, the sand below stays the same. Bock even makes a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo as someone who pushes the swing at an art gallery.

By the time Idehen's had a shot on it, the protagonist has been everywhere and nowhere at once. They say time is a healer, but so are the swings.
