Last cut is the deepest.
This director's cut of a commercial for HubSpot previously featured at DAVID, is a much more expansive exploration of the original idea, and is all the better for it. At almost four times the run length of the client version, you might expect it to be self-indulgent, but it uses its canvas wisely and there is not an ounce of fat on it. The depictions of frustration with existing software, from which the advertised product can spare us, form an excellent sequence that aggregate into a compelling argument for looking into HubSpot. VfX is used to amplify the vignettes, and this adds to hyperbole which is the basis of the ad's humour. All in all, it makes the case for expanding the media spend so that this version might be widely seen.
