Training Season

After a brief cameo in whatever the hell 'Argylle' was, it's back to the day job for Dua Lipa. Her new song, 'Training Season', picks up where 'Houdini' left off with a muscular nu-disco beat and a guitar riff that has Kevin Parker's fingerprints all over it (the man behind Tame Impala is a producer on Lipa's as-yet unnamed third album).

It already has two standout singles on it, though not everyone is invited to the launch party. Lipa sings, "Are you on my team or stuck on the sidelines/Waiting for someone to tell you to go?", frustrated by men who flatter to deceive. At this stage in her career, she wants the real deal, not trialists.

Lipa just about tolerates their presence in Vincent Haycock's promo—a whirlwind of misplaced confidence that makes contestants from 'The Apprentice' look humble. The last word goes to Lipa's voicemail: "The mailbox is full and cannot accept any messages at this time. Goodbye."
