"Dan Mancina"

Dan the man.

This is the most grounded Doritos commercial in recent memory. Director Thomas James takes viewers to London's BAYSIXTY6 Skate Park, where American Dan Mancina does what he does best. Thanks to the the degenerative eye condition retinitis pigmentosa (RP), he does it in complete darkness.

Mancina uses a cane when he skates to map out his run, so ledges, pillars, and cracks in the ground become reference points. There are no easy tricks in Mancina's world—every ollie, grind, manual, and kick turn pushes the senses, with almost no room for error.

Not that Mancina is fazed. "When I'm really in the zone and focused on something," he says, "the last thing I'm thinking about is being blind." If James and the brand wanted treu boldness, they found it in the man from Livonia, Michigan.
