The French job.
The French Revolution meets 'The Italian Job' in this glib commercial for Citroën. It's an eighteenth-century party at the palace, with more cake than Marie Antoinette would know what to do with. With croquet and tennis in full swing, life is good for the elite. Until it's not. To the sound of 'Suffragette City' by David Bowie, rebels storm the palace to steal not weapons, fine art, or grain, but three Citroën ë-C3s—one blue, one white, and one red. What follows is a desperate and messy attempt by high society to keep electric vehicle technology for themselves. The result does Bond's reputation for stylish slapstick no harm whatsoever. Horses chase after cars, croquet balls fly through the air, and cake explodes left, right, and centre. One sweet-toothed noblewoman cannot help be swept along by the revolution, as if keen to be on the right side of automotive history. Citroën hope that the work spurs potential owners into action at a time when EV elitism is rife. Should any riots break out, authorities know who to blame!
