Carlsberg
"Curiosity"
2 April 2024
40s

One for the ages.
There's an echo of Guinness's Cannes Grand Prix winning 'Noitulove' from 2005 in this dynamic commercial for Carlsberg from Fold7 and director Sam Pilling. The camera pulls back from a music festival in the current age to a jazz club in the 1930s, before arriving at the scene of a Regency orchestra, and then dropping back to musicians in Ancient Rome, before a shepherd plays a flute to entertain his animals, and we finally arrive at a prehistoric gang blowing into the bottles of the advertised lager to invent music. It's a fun and seamless journey through the ages with the lovely balance of technical mastery and humour that we've come to expect from director Pilling. Hats of to the whole team of brilliant craftspeople who've combined talents to make this happen, and how lovely to see a 'big commercial' fitting perfectly into just forty seconds.
