Wire we here, then?

The cop in this Canal+ film's in a hurry—so much so that he forgets to close the door of his car. Shit just got real in the subway, where a criminal mastermind has taken over the control room. We reckon he would get on well with Howard Payne from 'Speed'.

Like Payne, he loves to plant bombs on public transport. He also gets a kick out of kidnap, and who better to abduct than the cop's wife? If the protagonist fails to disarm the bomb in time, the next stop is death. That would be the case if this was a common or garden terrorist.

"Cut the right wire, and everybody lives," he says. "Cut the wrong wire, and nobody dies." That turns a matter of life and death into a matter of life and, er, life, much to the imperilled couple's bemusement. When viewers tune into Canal+, they can laugh like a supervillain at the risk-free choices on offer.
