Arriva
"There's a Bus For That"

I'm gonna bus to you.
Zak Razvi ('Jordanne', 'Stanley') directs the debut TVC for bus company Arriva, who want viewers to show public transport some love. That's… optimistic, to say the least, but you have to start somewhere. Thanks to Razvi and a script by George Cartwright and Lucas Robin, they're off to a good start. Love—or the buds of it at least—forms the core of this 60" spot. A teenage boy has made a new 'friend', and it's clear from the way he smiles at his phone that he cares a lot about them. Mum and dad know that look all so well, but they resist the urge to fish for details. The build-up to the first date is handled with such care by Razvi, from the way dad compliments his son's choice of aftershave to the elderly woman who watches him use his phone as a mirror on the bus. Every tuft and every strand of hair makes a difference, you know. Said bus takes him to—you guessed it—the bus stop, where his date greets him with the same warm smile we saw at the start. These are the moments the advertised company want to facilitate... so long as the buses show up on time!
