A question of sport.

There are echoes of Nike 'Londoner' in this splendid spot from Down Under for TAB which moots for a full three minutes on the crucial question: what is Australia's favourite sport? No doubt the recent women's soccer World Cup which saw the Matildas reach the semi-finals has further confused the country which has traditionally argued whether its premier sport is rugby, cricket or the footy.

As one would expect given his pedigree, director Nick Ball injects a great deal of levity into the discussion as various personnel forcefully make the case for their favoured activity. (DAVID particularly enjoyed the visual gag of all the soccer players falling over at once when one of them is fouled.)

Anyone who has spent time in Australia, especially if that time was spent in Melbourne, will know this is a jocular version of a very serious conversation... there are a great many things that the antipodeans take lightly, but sport is not one of them!

Grieg's 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' gives the action some additional oomph and helps build an exciting momentum as the argument reaches a crescendo, but there's still some time for the excellently cast anchorman in the news studio to deliver the coup de grace in the form of an answer which satisfies everybody and provides a genuine answer to the question. Excellent fun.
