If there's one thing usually stoic Brits are known for (apart from losing their minds over sport), it's an overwhelming love for their animals. This quirky commercial for Pets At Home taps into that deep and abiding passion, as it depicts a series of pet lovers who'd do absolutely anything for their furry friends.

Meatloaf's 'I Would Do Anything For Love' provides an appropriately bombastic soundtrack to the OTT displays of affection, which range from the silly (a gourmet cat meal presented as fine dining) to the all too relatable (scrubbing paint out of the carpet due to a wayward hound). The final shots of struggling with poop bags in a downpour and being gassed on the sofa will particularly resonate with dog owners.

Director Freddie Powell has the balance between humour and emotion just right here, with a shot of a hunky fireman emerging from a cloud of smoke clutching a rabbit - met with screams of relief from its owners - exemplifying that tone. This is work the audience will see themselves in, and gives the associated business the same caring, pet-obsessed vibe.
