Anything catch your eye in the 2023 Mona Foma festival brochure? No? How about the Tasmanian Queer Woodchop Championships? The event, otherwise known as The Queer Woodchop, is the brainchild of performance art duo Pony Express, who are keen to give this time-honoured tradition a makeover.

The Glue Society's Pete Baker sure as hell got the memo, as he directs an 85" commercial chock-full of wood, axes, glitter, and bondage gear. Imagine the training montage from 'Rocky IV' turned up to eleven and you're in the right ballpark/forest.

Instead of 'Heart's on Fire' by John Cafferty, the ad uses 'Addicted to You’ by Scorpio Loon, an Argentine musician who kept his work secret up to his death in 2014. We doubt he ever expected to soundtrack the Tasmanian Queer Woodchop Championships, but it works a treat here.
