Breathtaking

This striking promo was made to accompany Thom Draft's debut track 'Breathtaking', and it takes its cue from the title. It offers a glimpse of a dystopia where an oxygen shortage means that breathing cannot be taken for granted. Although it's a richly imagined piece of science fiction, it brings to mind the scariest moments of the pandemic when hospitals were using up so much oxygen that the whole country faced a shortage, and it became probable that lives would be lost because of it... so like all the best science fiction, it's formed on something very real.

The cinematography is stunning, with David Foulkes's camera constantly finding beauty in the grimmest of settings for director Valentin Guiod. The way that they have bent light to their will is really something to behold.

The promo is a perfect fit for the track, and does exactly what a great promo should by giving the viewer's mind another dimension as they listen to the music... a dimension that will stay with them once they have been returned to silence.
