Halston

Last year, DAVID featured a documentary about the New York City Subway’s lost property office. Now director João Retorta provides his own thoughtful look at a lost and found depot where items are logged with dispassionate care by a lone employee.

Paired with pianist Stephan Moccio's latest composition 'Halston', it's a discreet, tactile piece of work from the Portuguese—a considerable change of pace from his recent work for Sports Direct. Here, he lets each object make a silent plea to be reunited with their owner.

Another wordless performance (that of the employee) is handled just as well, leaving viewers to wonder how much of an imprint is left by these items. Though we hear from the 'bereaved' through voicemail messages, it's the silent guardian who piques our interest.
