The thrill of the chase.
You could argue that Formula One owes a huge debt to Michael Masi - the man who bizarrely improvised the rules at the end of the final race of the 2021 season. Had he done his job properly, Lewis Hamilton would have retained his World Championship title in a damp squib of a finale. Instead, the whole world was talking about the injustice meted out to the British racing driver by an official who was determined to ensure that the race was completed at speed, no matter how many rules he had to sidestep. Masi's controversial decision not only enabled Max Verstappen to secure his first World Championship, it created a huge anticipation for the 2022 series of races. Will Lewis Hamilton get his revenge? Will Max Verstappen become invincible? Will Ferrari deliver on the potential they demonstrated last year? With all of these questions on people's minds, and a real expectation of an exciting title race, this film from Sky Creative and Rogue director Mark Jenkinson (with VFX from Untold Studios and Sound from Arge at Envy) hits all the right notes. It's a positively kinetic film which perfectly captures the thrill of this sport at its best.
