Bugs and glitches are a video game developer's worst nightmare, with many titles sunk by memes just days after release. For On Running and director Jonas Hegi, broken software is a dream come true.

Aberrations flood this 60" spot in the best possible way, as a woman runs through a city that would break hardened QA testers with sunken cars, elongated vending machines, and impossible architecture. At least the protagonist gets a kick out of it.

She also enjoys her moment in the character select screen, with stretches that are part athletics, part fighting game. The result underlines the Swiss brand’s willingness to cut loose on occasion, as well as the beautiful insanity of video games on the blink.
