"Tiger Would"
17 May 2022
60s

Wood that it were so simple.
Tiger Woods has endured a lot during his career, including a broken leg, multiple back surgeries, and even a corporate seance. A car crash in 2021 almost finished him off for good. Yet he still managed to compete in the 2022 Masters—not bad for a man held together by metal and gaffer tape. His tenacity informs this 60" Nike ad fronted by rapper Schoolboy Q, who asks: "What would you be willing to do to chase your dream?" For Woods, it meant playing through racism, managing both physical and mental pain, and generally defying the odds. Needless to say, the ad ignores speeding and infidelity. These omissions aside, the spot deftly underlines Woods's appeal as a golfing stoic. Schoolboy Q then challenges viewers to match Tiger's resolve (bonus points if they tear a few ligaments along the way).
