Is this the real life?

As New Zealand reopen their borders nearly two-and-a-half years after the pandemic began, housebuilders Fletcher Living are in a reflective mood. "How do you measure living?" the narrator asks, especially after the seismic upheaval caused by Covid-19.

The answer is not in quarter acres (once a staple of the New Zealand dream) but in moments. Director Nathan Price produces a lovely compendium of domestic highs, lows, and middles that speak to aspirational Kiwis.

Whether it's band practice in the garage, a grandfather asleep on the lawn, or the aftermath of a teenage break-up, each vignette ebbs and flows well thanks to Price's light touch. It's up to the advertised housebuilder to make these moments happen for more people.
