Smashing preconceptions.

Anecdotally, it's clear that the expectations of the Disney+ streaming platform are closely aligned with its parent company's heritage... DAVID recently recommended Disney+ to a friend who replied: "oh no! My children are way past the Disney Princess phase!" So this fantastic film by Ian Pons Jewell from a script created by Leo Burnett is right on the money.

Punters who imagine Disney+ is limited to fairy stories and animated animals are going to have their eyes ripped open by a commercial which reveals there is so much more available on the platform than that… (though, for the record, if you are looking for Disney Princesses then it's probably where you should start).

Each of the vignettes in this ad challenges existing expectations and shifts them so far from where they were that it's mind blowing, and the dynamic way they're depicted makes it really entertaining to watch.

Toy Story 3 is the first work represented as a little girl looks up with delighted wonderment when a moving shadow of a toy dinosaur is generated by a mechanical mouse moving an approximation of the Pixar angle-poise lamp... so far, so Disney. But when the mouse motors next door and interrupts a scene from The King's Man, we're given our first reminder that Disney+'s offering is far more eclectic than we might have thought.

This trend continues with a re-enactment of the sofa sequence from the opening titles of The Simpsons. It's not the first time this iconic TV moment has been rendered as a live-action facsimile, but it serves this piece well and – like much of this ad – is only on screen for a moment or two before the action dynamically dashes on.

There's the merest glimpse of The Kardashians before we're reminded that Disney+ now owns the rights to the entire Star Wars canon, including all the new series which it is creating at an astonishing rate.

Finally, there's the most 'out there' revelation of all, as we discover that Disney+ is now home to 'The Walking Dead'. And, let's face it, you can't get much further from DIsney Princesses than scenery-chewing zombies.

It's a really fun ad which seems certain to prompt a lot of people who'd dismissed Disney+ to have another think.
