Cheer goggles.

Lydia West (It's a Sin, Inside Man) delivers a winning performance for Boots when she finds a pair of glasses on the bus—no prizes for guessing which opticians they're from. Every time she puts them on, West sees what family, friends, and co-workers crave more than anything this Christmas.

Whether it's a luxury bubble bath, a perfume worthy of the red carpet, or a hairdryer for a drag queen's knockout locks, each item goes straight onto West's shopping list. Some may call this cheating, but the chance to take the guesswork out of gifts is too good to pass up.

It allows for some neat transitions between everyday life and more fantastical settings, with a likeable, observant West along for the ride. When she takes off the glasses on Christmas Day, reality—for once in 2022—doesn't bite.
