Who gives a flying cowboy?

This super ad for Proper Chips has a lovely laid back vibe with Jack Brown's animation being perfectly complemented by an excellent voiceover and a great music choice. It introduces us to Alan, a "flying cowboy", who serenely makes his way across a landscape made of the ingredients we can expect to find in the advertised snack.

The music is by an Australian called Angus Stone (who goes by Dope Lemon), while the voiceover was provided by the agency ECD, Dominic Goldman. Now, it's fair to say that the outcomes when agency personnel become directly involved in the making of commercials can be – shall we say – of variable quality, but Goldman's contribution to this commercial is so impressive that when we noticed that the voiceover artist wasn't identified in the distributed credits, we actively sought the information, so no one can accuse Goldman of self-aggrandisement.

All in all, it's a highly diverting piece of work, and as aficionados of all manner of snacks, we find it a pretty persuasive piece of advertising... we'll certainly be searching for a bag of these on our next foray to the supermarket. And there's no higher praise than that.
