Paro(noia)

At one point in DC’s 'Paro(noia)', the rapper wishes he could “rewind back to the times I was worried 'bout GCSEs." It's a simple but poignant sentiment, particularly as the year 2021 finds new ways to kick viewers in the unmentionables. According to DC, his new single is "a guide on how to survive with a paranoid mind".

Therefore, exams are replaced by glances in the rear view mirror ("I see feds...what if they blast their sirens?") and potential conflict at every set of traffic lights. It's a relevant, anxious listen, underpinned by DC's fluent storytelling.

Director Dir. LX also makes a vital contribution, with his promo marked by flickering lights and woozy flourishes. The result is an immersive piece of observational rap that deftly conveys the mental impact of urban life.
