The long and short of it.

Racist fans of popular fairy tales have it tough right now. First, Halle Bailey was cast as Ariel in 'The Little Mermaid'; now Amazon Prime present a Black Rapunzel. There’ll be nothing left for the poor souls to watch soon.

For everyone else, this Wayne McClammy-directed film is a confident, compact tweak on the 1812 formula. In this version, freedom (and her own successful business) is only a same-day delivery ladder away.

Scored by Nicki Minaj's 'Feeling Myself', it's a punchy plug that also boasts some neat incidental details. The wall of elongated braids available at Rapunzel's salon is an especially nice touch, though we dread to think how much shampoo and conditioner would be necessary.
