"Your Phone's Seen A Lot This Year"

9 November 2020

30s

Season of scroll.

A phone's-eye view of 2020 might not seem like the most enjoyable watch, but Three use the unusual perspective to good effect in their latest ad. With visuals accompanied by a cacophony of chanting voices, the film follows a woman as she scrolls, talks, and - most importantly - cleans her way through the year from hell.

Director Simon Ratigan has created a lovely vibe here, mixing the confined feeling of living mostly indoors with refreshing bursts of exterior colour. The choral soundtrack is a great choice, too, emphasising the film's topsy-turvey view on things as the observer becomes the observed.

Phones have been even more integral to daily life this year, and this ad offers a well-timed reminder of the tremendous amount of wear and tear we put our device through. Whether your handset is a little cracked and glitchy or bricked entirely, an upgrade might be just the way to begin 2021.
