Social Bubl

O2 have joined the long list of brands choosing to advertise themselves at Christmas time with a significant hero film. The recently introduced Bubl would be the star of the show, if he wasn't being upstaged by ten-year-old ice skater Darcy Murdoch. The human and VFX robot combine charmingly to dance on ice and – in the process – remind the watching audience of the phone network's ability to provide us with entertainment wherever we are.

By now, it should go without saying that 2020 has been the most extraordinarily difficult year... and many businesses are on their knees because of it. But other businesses have done well, and the phone networks are bound to have benefited from the huge number of people working from home, and others whose social life has been entirely dependent on their mobile devices. Quite rightly, O2 are being neither complacent or smug about this... instead, they are conveying a positive message about the role they play in their customers' lives.

It's clear already that Bubl is going to be a mainstay of O2's advertising for some time to come, and it already feels as though he's been around for ages... in a good way.

Doubtless, there are many more challenges ahead in 2021 and we will be guided through them by the information which flows via networks like O2 straight into the handsets to which many of us are permanently attached. Because of this, O2 are among a select group of companies who can expect to have a very Merry Christmas and an even Happier New Year.
