Love Death Distraction
This atmospheric promo for Eden's 'Love Death Distraction' takes us out on the open road. The film follows a truck driver as he carts the wreckage of a small aircraft across the wide Kazakh plains, miles of open sky and mountains interspersed only by pit stops, cigarette breaks, and the rhythm of dawn and dusk. Light is used beautifully throughout the promo, as directors Zhang + Knight and cinematographer Ruben Woodin Dechamps capture the shifting colours and perspectives as the hours tick by. Moments of fantasy stretch out alongside the song's heartfelt, folksy notes, as the carcass plane's gears shift and yearn to once again touch the sky. There's an unexpected poignancy and emotional heft to proceedings here - one which rewards patient viewers who allow the visuals to wash over them until they reach the wreck's final, ignominious resting place. By the end, both audience and driver are rather sad to see it go.
