Burger King

"Stevenage vs. Everything"

10 December 2020

45s

Play like kings and queens.

Burger King's unlikely association with League Two club Stevenage FC continues with a new logo for the women's team. Having already bribed Fifa fans to play as the small-fry club and brought its red and white kit to global digital attention, the fast food giants now focus their efforts on ensuring parity of support with their 'Burger Queen' campaign.

The dingy exterior of Lamex Stadium takes centre stage throughout the film, as it chronicles various adversities the little-club-that-could has faced down over the years. From poor results to a bad reputation, it's a simple yet effective way to highlight the persistence it's taken for Stevenage FC to still exist at all, let alone as a club which overcame the odds.

Sexism, then, is just another challenge for the teams to rise above. Kudos to director Tom Day for creating such a defiant atmosphere with restrained visual cues, in addition to using canny sound design to enhance the film's appeal.
