Everyone, Everyday
Domestic bliss reigns anew as British Gas ditch Wilbur the Penguin for a fresher, live-action approach. A pacy montage shows a couple dealing with all the ups and downs of life together via their kitchen - from affectionately-delivered cups of early morning coffee to oven-baked disasters and spats over empty milk cartons. Not only is this a shrewdly rendered piece of work which subtly emphasises the brand’s role in keeping the lights on and the water hot and flowing, it's a good example of how to be inclusive without relying on tired ‘diversity' tropes. It makes no difference that the very ordinary couple featured are both men, which is exactly why it matters that they are. Kudos to director Simon Ratigan and The&Partnership for representation without the bells and whistles.
