Style and Substance
'Chicago style' is more than just a method of dressing up hot dogs in this pacy commercial for Nike. Well... mustard, onion, and relish are involved (hold the ketchup), but certainly aren't the sum-total of what the Windy City has to offer. Even deep dish pizza isn't the most important thing on the menu. Instead, director Mike Warzin introduces viewers to a quickfire barrage of what makes the city great. From sports successes (including the infamous Cubs Curse being lifted) to hometown spirit and camaraderie, the diversity and passion of America's most populous urban hub is clear to see. That's not to say the negatives are ignored - decades of headlines about violence and crime can't be swept under the rug - but the enthusiastic announcer encourages a rehabilitation of the city's image. This film is a reminder of the melting pot the USA was intended to be - something which should be celebrated far more often.
