Sainsbury's

"The Big Night"

Jingle Bell Rock

Sainsbury's get into the real spirit of Christmas with this joyful ad focused on a seasonal mainstay - the Christmas play. Far from shepherds with tea towels on their heads and conspicuously home made costumes, however, this is a show with some serious pizzazz.

While some commenters have noted similarities between this and another recent film about precocious performers, this has a charm all of its own - particularly in its sense of humour. From a kid dressed as a plug flinging himself into a socket to a gravy boat full of glitter, there's a tongue-in-cheek self-awareness to the action which really works.

Add into that a great performance from the central singer, the knowledge that (according to the behind the scenes film) the kids' real parents were in the audience, and the fact it was directed by 'The Greatest Showman's Michael Gracey, and it seems like Orange Supermarket may be having a very merry Christmas after all.
