Do gooders get a doing.
This is a brilliant and timely spoof. There has been a spate of ads in the last year which have reflected the desire of brands to associate themselves with the power of good. And when we remember that these include the infamous Pepsi ad featuring Kendall Jenner, it's clear that it's an instinct that can go awry. The solemnity of the executions which have won praise has often been just as grating, and this superbly measured parody manages to poke fun at them remorselessly. The 'reveal' when they pull the bottle from the stand and realise that it's double-ended is priceless, and made all the better by the slapstick of them trying to drink form both ends while describing it as a life-changing moment. Could this satirical Exocet discourage brands from trying to persuade us that we can save the world by uniting behind their product or service? Almost certainly not. But maybe it'll make them think twice before adopting this particular approach. Let's hope so.
