Beat the Heat

Maltesers continue their groundbreaking 'Look on the Light Side' campaign with another series of ads celebrating diversity in all its forms. Women whose stories are rarely told take centre stage of the latest leg, kicked off by this film starring a group of friends who could euphemistically be described as being 'of a certain age'.

It's not often we see the effects of ageing joked about in advertising (we're still in the era of Tena trying to make their 'lady pants' sexy, after all), and menopause even less so. Director Clay Weiner breezes past any notion of embarrassment, with perfectly pitched jokes about hot flashes and even a saggy boob gag thrown in for good measure.

With an overarching aim to highlight our similarities, in spite of our differences, this ad serves as a fitting continuation of the brand's campaign. Warm humour and a genuine sense of friendship give things a wonderfully universal feel.
