The Canadian Renaissance.

History of Art graduates will appreciate this beautifully-lit film for the Canadian Olympic Committee. Drawing from the Renaissance period, the ad casts Canada's Winter Olympic team as living artworks.

Director Ian Pon Jewell and DP Mauro Chiarello craft a series of tableaux vivants (or "living pictures") with a sporting twist. Leonardo da Vinci's 'Last Supper' becomes a skating judges' table, while miracle snowboarder Mark McMorris channels Michelangelo's 'Pieta'.

As for the narrator, he challenges both present and future Olympians to show more than sporting prowess: character. It's a steely take on Canada's nicer-than-nice reputation - they may beat you, but they'll do it the righteous way.
