Drinking Buddy

Edinburgh-based craft beer delivery service Beer52 have invented a drinking buddy for any subscriber feeling a bit lonely when they receive their monthly crate of bevvies. If you need a pal, Beer Buddy is here for you. Really. Please. He's a bit desperate.

That desperation is the nub of an interesting, funny character played by comedian and actor Lee McQueen. Beer Buddy knows everything there is to know about beer, but he struggles to get anybody to stick around long enough to share his passion.

The answer - clearly - is a 40 minute video in which your man tastes the entire selection of beers delivered to customers and invites them to follow along, sharing his tasting notes as he goes. Of course, he's interrupted by various surreal cameos from his housemate and the neighbours (and a bubble bath... obviously).

The ultra-long ad is a bit of a stunt (we've seen the likes before in spots for Verizon and Lagavulin), but the hapless guy at the centre gives the film a lot of heart. It also might not be a one-off event: "If people keep watching, I'll keep drinking!"
