Sharing the pain.
This gruelling road safety film gives words to the unspeakable. One by one, we meet those haunted by CiarĂ¡n Treacy's death: his parents; the emergency services who attended the scene; and the nurses who fought to save the four-year old's life. The Treacys' brief contributions are harrowing as they describe their shattered lives. Even those for whom distress is a part of the job admit the pain can become too much. These are the ripple effects of drink driving laid bare. It's a testament to the bravery of Gillian and Ronan Treacy in telling their story. Mature and tactful direction is a necessity in such circumstances, and Zak Razvi shows due care in bringing this tragedy to our attention. With each passing year, one can only marvel (or despair) at those who still refuse to take the message on board. Ireland's road safety authority hope showing the accumulative damage caused by drink driving can finally prevent more needless heartache.
