Childline

A Touching Message

A new film for Childline examines the behaviour of a troubled teenage boy and slowly reveals a relationship with an abusive parent.

There's nothing new about this idea as charities have frequently offered a candid depiction of what some young people have to live with. Sadly, there's nothing to suggest that it isn't a commonplace story in real life too so it's important that we don't grow weary of the message.

That doesn't seem likely when the depictions are as powerful as they are in this immensely moving film. A teenager who might not automatically engender sympathy is not only shown to have an intolerable home life, it transpires that he's heroically protective of the younger sister whom he fears will be next in the firing line.

It's heart-breakingly good and we hope that it helps to raise money for Childline and, importantly, that the charity can make a meaningful difference.
