TurboTax
'Now Taxes is So Sweet'

11 February 2025

Whether you know her as Issa Dee from 'Insecure', Sintara Golden from 'American Fiction', or President Barbie from 'Barbie' Issa Rae is an actor who hates how Byzantine taxes have become. "We do we do things the hard way?" she asks, driving in reverse on the highway and through a bush to reach where all dreams go to die: the tax office.

Hyundai
'Are You In?'

11 February 2025

Want to be part of the in-crowd? Buy a Hyundai Inster. Yes, Hyundai's new electric sports utility vehicle is called the Inster—like someone who only does part of the Hokey Cokey then calls it a day. As the South Korean car maker sees it, Inster owners are real go-getters who make the rest of us look like lazy slobs. There's still time to come in from the outside, though.

TV Spot

Wayfair
'Rugby Player'

11 February 2025

One of two ads directed by Chris Balmond for Wayfair that blend an OOH campaign and a TVC one, this instalment lands just in time for the Six Nations championship. A rugby player's transfixed by a vase on a nearby billboard—so much so that's he in the actual scene. When the bedroom starts to shake, you know he's about to get tackled to kingdom come.

TV Spot

Wayfair
'Cyclist'

11 February 2025

How on earth does a cyclist end up in a stranger's living room? Through the power of out-of-home (OOH) advertising, of course! Said cyclist is so taken by a Wayfair lamp, she imagines she's inside the billboard it features on. What breaks the spell, however, is the sound of a pneumatic drill made by the lamp's owner—a noisy reminder that the real world (and a real lamp) await.

Android
'Wanderlust'

11 February 2025

How do you get from the bathtub to Windermere? No one knew how until this Android commercial came along, with a burst of 'Bingo Bango' by Basement Jaxx for good measure. Thanks to the advertised OS's Circle to Search feature, a would-be kayaker learns all he needs to know about England's deepest lake. He must be a strong paddler to reach a rowdy nightclub afterwards.

TV Spot

Booking.com
'Get Your Stay Ridiculously Right (DC)'

11 February 2025

The DC of Nick Ball's muppets-based booking.com spot delivers a great deal more coherence than the broadcast version as it explores the myriad ways in which holidays can go wrong. Funnily enough, in the newspaper today there is a story about a family who used VRBO to rent a house in Northern Ireland for a family holiday only to discover mouldy food, blood-stained mattresses and a bedroom full of sex toys so inappropriate outcomes is clearly a live issue in this sector.

Android
'Twitchers'

11 February 2025

This agreeably nuts ad for Android-based phones has a couple of women in a club getting a little side-tracked by thoughts of bird watching as they dance the night away. After using a search equipped with AI-style results on their mobile phone, they feel sufficiently informed about camouflage to wear it as they continue their night out, safe in the knowledge that they will not be spotted by any birds.

TV Spot

Oikos
'Surprising Strength'

10 February 2025

Greek yogurt brand Oikos and Juno Temple ('Ted Lasso', 'Fargo') have a surprise in store for Cleveland Browns player Myles Garrett, who's got a foot injury and a plane to catch. How's the man supposed to reach his gate in time? Easy—Temple's strong enough to carry the defensive end on her shoulders. All he needs to do carry her pot of yogurt that's high in protein.

Dunkin' Donuts
'DunKings 2: The Movie'

10 February 2025

Super Bowl LVII unleashed the DunKings (Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Tom Brady) on the world; Super Bowl LIX has Dunkin' [Donuts] shake up the roster, with Damon and Brady replaced by Casey Affleck, Bill Belichick, and Jeremy Strong. Oscar-nominated for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in 'The Apprentice', the latter is on a different wavelength to his fellow DunKings.

Promo

Joy Crookes
'Mathematics (ft. Kano)'

10 February 2025

Joy Crookes's latest track is called 'Mathematics'—do you reckon it will be known as 'Math' in North America? The bittersweet follow-up to 'Pass the Salt' has Crookes "single at the tennis court" and "lost in the superstore", on the rebound but far from off the boil. Just listen to her soulful vocals that put it all on the line and compel you to walk it with her.

TV Spot

Novartis
'Your Attention, Please'

10 February 2025

Pharmaceutical company Novartis opens its Super Bowl account with a 60" commercial all about breasts. If the brand wanted viewers' curiosity and attention on Super Bowl Sunday, breasts are a damn good place to start. Yet titillation's not the goal here—instead, the brand wants an uptick in mammograms/breast cancer screenings right across the nation.

TV Spot

Land Rover
'The Journey'

10 February 2025

Directed by Mark Jenkinson and scored by Nia Archives, this 30" commercial focuses on how to carpool Land Rover style, with a mountaineer, a park ranger, and a BASE jumper in the passenger seats of a Defender. Thanks to a series of convenient tunnels, the protagonist is able to visit multiple biomes before she returns to the urban jungle accompanied by some parrots.

TV Spot

Saucony
'Run As One'

10 February 2025

Saucony's signature Trainer 80 was launched in—you guessed it—1978, so you might say this commercial from agency Havas Play and director Joe Howat retreats to go forward. Period details are subtle throughout as Trainer 80s in different colours pop off the screen, complemented by a chunky boom-bap beat that references the fall and rise of vinyl records.

Promo

REMA
'Baby (Is It a Crime)'

10 February 2025

Nigerian Afropop star Rema samples Sade Adu on 'Baby (Is It a Crime)', a track that not only flits between Pidgin and English, but also has one foot in 2025 and the other in 1985. Adu's heard but not seen in the promo directed by Salomé Gomis-Trezise, who pairs Rema with a femme formidable ("The way you move this your body na weapon, ah-ahn/Catch me off guard, me I hands up kparam").

TV Spot

EE
'Weekender'

10 February 2025

Another excellent addition to the EE canon has a group of northerners deciding to brave the English countryside and finding that it's a pretty dismal experience. Still, they appear to be having fun nonetheless, and they're able to cope with everything that comes their way thanks to the phones in their pockets and EE's ever reliable network.

TV Spot

Indeed
'The S Word'

10 February 2025

Everyone knows that in a salary negotiation, you should always oblige the other side to go first, but what it it's an impasse? According to this gem of an ad for Indeed, that can get awkward. A young man and his potential employer do their absolute best to get the other to make the first move, but they are both as stubborn as the other.

TV Spot

KiLLOWEN
'No Service Tour'

10 February 2025

This sketch-style film directed by Mr Yankey is a brilliant way for music star KiLLOWEN to announce a UK tour, and show off his comedy skills into the bargain. Obliged by a pal to stand in at a mobile phone stand, he does his best to cope with the various crises that come his way, seeing off one after another and even finding time for some major league flirting.

TV Spot

NerdWallet
'Beluga'

7 February 2025

Even if Kieran Culkin misses out on the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for ‘A Real Pain’, at least he can say he voiced a beluga whale in NerdWallet’s Super Bowl commercial. Take that, Yuri Burisov, Guy Pearce, Jeremy Strong, and Edward Norton! (The latter voiced a bagel in 'Sausage Party', so understands Culkin's thought process, at least).

TV Spot

FanDuel
'The Dream'

7 February 2025

US bookmaker FanDuel taps two of the three Manning brothers for its latest 'Kick of Destiny' commercial, which delves into the psyche of former New York Giants quarterback Eli. The youngest Manning always wanted to be a kicker, as a silly flashback to his 'younger' days shows (we like that no effort whatsoever’s been made to de-age him—it's just Eli in a wig).

TV Spot

Mountain Dew
'Kiss from a Lime (ft. Seal, Becky G)'

7 February 2025

'Kiss from a Rose' by Seal becomes 'Kiss from a Lime' in Mountain Dew’s latest batshit crazy Super Bowl commercial (who could forget 'Puppy Monkey Baby' from 2016—pure horror rivalled only by Donald Trump's election victory). Nine years later, agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners and director Taika Waititi have also played God to some extent.

TV Spot

BBC
'Our BBC'

7 February 2025

These understated ads for the BBC aim for authenticity and hit the target. Directed by Libby Burke Wilde, each 10" spot revolves around what people use the public service broadcaster for, whether it's to explore a common interest, learn about the natural world, feel at home away from home, or help young people understand the past.

TV Spot

Fox Sports Network
'Alex Palou'

7 February 2025

Three-time IndyCar Series champion Álex Palou played second fiddle to Josef Newgarden in a recent Fox Sports commercial; now the Spaniard gets his own hyperbolic profile courtesy of agency Special Group and director Jack Begert. He thinks about racing when people aren't talking about racing, and does his taxes on January 1... just like Ned Flanders.

TV Spot

Under Armour
'Antonio Rüdiger'

7 February 2025

Real Madrid and Germany centre-back Antonio Rüdiger is the last line of the defence in this bullish Under Armour commercial—the latest in a string of 'Protect This House' spots from the brand. "Attack wins games, but defence wins titles," it says, so never take the likes of Rüdiger for granted. If you do, he might shove a lit flare where the sun don't shine.

TV Spot

Nerds
'Shaboozey'

7 February 2025

Shaboozey, the man who caused Google to wobble like an inebriated search engine, stars in a Super Bowl commercial for Nerds candy that hits the streets of New Orleans. The city's pain is still raw weeks after the events of January 1, so the brand must pray that a cover of Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World' and a horde of CG sweets are not taken the wrong way.

TV Spot

Nothing
'Ear (open)'

7 February 2025

Shirley Bassey provides the soundtrack for this black-and-white commercial for Nothing—as in the brand, not the concept. Scored by the Welsh diva’s cover of '(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story', the ad hinges on a pair of Ear (open) earbuds that help a man "push the world out of his own mind". He then lets the music take over his body as a form of sound therapy.

Promo

Clairo
'Terrapin'

7 February 2025

In this amusing promo for a new track by Clairo, the parody artist 'Weird' Al Yankovic - looking like a pre-shorn Michael Bolton - stands in for the singer, miming along to the song. The strokes of Yankovic's comedy are normally broad, but here he is reined in by director Ayo Edebiri who probably felt that the absurdity of the juxtaposition was sufficiently funny... which it is.

TV Spot

Lightning Link Casino
'Dragon'

7 February 2025

In this wordless film promoting an online gaming service, the protagonist is attacked by a dragon after securing what appears to be a major win when using the mobile app. Quite what this is supposed to be a signify is beyond us, and it seems a shame for the poor fellow that his neglected food is reduced to ashes by the aforementioned legendary creature. Weird.

Promo

Jennie & Dominic Fike
'Love Hangover'

7 February 2025

In this exceedingly silly but nonetheless highly entertaining promo for K-pop artist Jennie's collaboration with Dominic Fike, directors Bradley & Pablo have leaned into the whimsy to depict a love story with a difference. You suspect it's going to get crazy when a promo opens with the funeral of one of its stars, and so it proves.

TV Spot

Glenmorangie
'Episode 3: The Accommodation'

7 February 2025

Harrison Ford' odyssey in Scotland continues in this winning series for Glenmorangie, and in this episode, he investigates his accommodation, and discovers it to be rather grand. It must take a lot to wow a Hollywood star, and the idea here is that this castle manages exactly that. Much of the film is occupied with Ford on screen by himself, and he demonstrates that he can still fill it magnificently.

TV Spot

ParticipACTION
'Make Room to Move'

6 February 2025

Canadian nonprofit ParticipACTION (geddit?) found itself in a hole when it was shut down in 2001 due to budget cuts. Relaunched in 2007 by the Canadian government, the organisation encourages people of all ages to get active and park electronic devices to the side. Or, as this 60" commercial suggests, throw them into a ruddy great hole.
