The Sweetshop US welcomes Dermot Malone.

Dermot Malone's bond with The Sweetshop has only grown stronger as he joins the company's US roster, on top of his UK and European representation.

Time sure does fly in this industry. In August 2020 (remember 'Eat Out to Help Out'?), Irish director Dermot Malone signed for The Sweetshop for UK and European representation. Four and a half years and one debut feature later, Malone's joined the company's US roster as he aims to strengthen his already swole commercial reel.

The director of 2024's 'King Frankie' says: "I can't overstate how excited I am to be working with The Sweetshop in the United States. Having spent time with George Meeker, I am very excited to get going with Los Angeles team. I am a huge fan of US advertising and believe the work suits my sensibilities very well. Onward!"


That's co-managing director and executive producer George Meeker's favourite direction, as it happens. He says: "Dermot doesn't just make ads; he makes you feel something. His ability to anchor performance in deep, human truth is exactly what the US market is looking for right now. We couldn't be happier to officially welcome him to the roster."

For an example of Malone's tactile approach, check out this 2024 ad for the Health Service Executive. On his wedding day, a man who has benefitted from the donation of an organ has cause to be grateful to the family of the donor. The idea is to draw attention to the need to have a conversation with your loved ones so they are aware of your wishes and do not prevent the donation of your organs if this was what you wanted.
