Somesuch welcomes Freddie Waters.

Did you know that Freddie Waters is Arnold Schwarzenegger's pool boy? That's what his personal website says, at least—the most important thing to know is that Waters is now represented by Somesuch.

Did you know that Freddie Waters is Arnold Schwarzenegger's pool boy? That's what his personal website says, at least—check it out when you have a moment and be careful not to stab yourself with Conan's sword. The most important thing to know, however, is that Waters is now on the books at Somesuch for global representation.

So what does Waters bring to the table? This 2023 commercial for Paddy Power is a good place to start. Starring actor Colm Meaney, long-time spokesman Peter Crouch, and more, the film sees Irish and English fans square up for some banter before the main event kicks off - although some are incapable of keeping things civil.

The expected, good-natured nationalist insults get thrown around (football isn't coming home, St Patrick was Welsh, and so forth... though a jab about the economy hits close to home in the current climate), before Shaun Williamson - aka Barry from Eastenders - takes it too far and breaks out the potato jokes. Thankfully, all's fair in love and betting.

His ability to direct big-name talent is also evident in a trio of Sports Direct commercials. Starring Eric Cantona and a plethora of other footballing talent including Thierry Henry and Mason Mount, the spots frame the beautiful game as the best gift anyone could hope for over the holiday period.

Cantona turns in a winning performance here, delivering his usual gruffness as he occupies the head of a dinner table, voices an Alexa-style AI, and even becomes a sort of Greek god of the modern age as he inhales 'eau de football' off a pristine boot. It can be tough to juggle festivities and football, but Waters does so with aplomb.

Somesuch

Somesuch went off with a bang when it was co-founded by Sally Campbell and Tim Nash a few years ago... and it's been banging ever since. The London-based roster of directors is impressive enough but when you factor in the international contingent, it starts to look like a who's who of talent.
