Somesuch welcomes Alfie Whiteman.

Unless DAVID's mistaken, Alfie Whiteman is the only director and photographer on the circuit to have won the Europa League then joined Somesuch on a free transfer.

Unless DAVID's mistaken, Alfie Whiteman is the only director and photographer on the circuit to have won the Europa League. A goalkeeper by trade, he was part of the Tottenham Hotspur squad that lifted the trophy in May. Like Ange Postecoglou, he left the club soon after—unlike Ange Postecoglou, he's had a great second half of the year.

Not only has Whiteman secured a free transfer to Somesuch for global representation, he's also behind one of the most memorable curios in recent memory: a black-and-white commercial about the annual Toe Wrestling Championships. Turns out Vibram shoes, which enable those so inclined to slot each toe into a special aperture, make all the difference.

Whiteman's doc-style approach allows his roving camera to capture the eccentricity of the Toe Wrestling Championships without patronising those taking part. His non-judgemental lens certainly amps up the strangeness, and he allows the participants to display a hint of self-deprecating, but stops short of mockery.

The outcome is eye-catching and impactful, and has a great synergy with the kind of clips which people share on social media. It's little wonder why brands like Vibram and Baracuta (see 'Keep the Faith' below) want a piece of him, and why Somesuch swooped when it did. You might say clients are in safe hands with Whiteman.

Somesuch

Somesuch went off with a bang when it was co-founded by Sally Campbell and Tim Nash a few years ago... and it's been banging ever since. The London-based roster of directors is impressive enough but when you factor in the international contingent, it starts to look like a who's who of talent.
